401 K – 25 Years Old

By Terry Savage on September 13, 2017 | Investments

I am currently things about the way my 401 K is distributed. I have not touched it since my company set it up for me. Currently I have 30% in bonds, which I am getting told is way too much for someone my age. Fidelity is even telling me that is too much. I was thinking of changing to 100% of my money in the vanguard 2055 where I would become more stocks, and only 10% in bonds. Is this wise? I know the market is supposed to fall, so it might not be the right time to make the switch. but for someone my age it will bounce back. I am not sure how to handle this

Terry Says

That's a pretty good idea, but why don't you move one-third of that bond money to the 2055 fund on the same day every month for the next three months. That way you can't kick yourself for making a timing mistake!
