529 investment- try out Bright start or use NY’s plan

By Terry Savage on December 28, 2017 | College Savings / Student Loans

Hi, I want to open a 529 plan for my 1 year old daughter. It would be nice to take advantage of the state tax deduction, especially with taxes having increased this year. However, I am weary of the fact that the revised Bright Start direct plan has no history and I know little about the manager The NY 529 plan gets such good reviews, I wonder if it would just be better to open with them and not worry about it. Thanks! Melissa

I can't disagree if you want to be sophisticated about the investments -- and if you don't think you can use the tax deduction next year.
