529 plan — Illinois?

By Terry Savage on April 01, 2018 | College Savings / Student Loans

Do you recommended the Illinois plan?

Terry Says

For many years I avoided the Illinois Bright Start Savings 529 plan because it was expensive, and didn't have a great choice of investments.  That changed in the past couple of years, so I now have no objections.  The real benefit for Illinois residents is that annual contributions up to $10,000 are deductible from state income taxes.  And tax deductions are hard to find these days!  You can go to www.SavingforCollege.com to compare plans.
