TERRY,I FOUND SOME ITALIAN DEBIT BONDS ISSUED IN 1941 AMONG MY GRANDMOTHERS BELONGINGS.WOULD YOU KNOW WHERE I COULD GET SOME INFORMATION REGARDING THESE BONDS.COULDNT GET MUCH HELP FROM THE ITALIAN CONSULATE.THE HEADING ON THE BONDS READS-DEBITO PUBBLICO DEL REGNO D’ITALIA. THANKS MUCH

Terry Says:  Wow, those date from the period of Mussolini — and I’m betting they were repudiated by the Italian government after WWII.  But the certificates might have some value as a collector’s item.  There are a couple of websites that specialize in tracking and valuing these old shares.  One is www.oldstockresearch.com  and the other is Stock Search International    When you contact these companies you should ask about their fees, just in case there is some remaining value.  They typically take a percentage.  So if you want to hold on to the certificates instead of either redeeming (if that is possible) or selling them as collectors items (Scripophily), you should be sure how you will pay for this information.
