Ask Terry Questions credit card debt

credit card debt

Please show me how to pay off credit card debt on a fixed income.

Terry Says

I understand the predicament.  You likely used the credit card to cover expenses that were more than your fixed income.  And that is likely to happen again --unless you get help. Now, typically I suggest that the way out is to earn more.  You may be on a fixed income because of disability or retirement.  But perhaps you could earn money by watching a child, or helping a senior, or even being a "greeter" at Walmart.  The easiest way to pay off debt, and stay out of future debt, is to earn more money.  So before you say that is impossible, please give it a thought.  There might be something you could do to help someone else who would find your service valuable enough to pay for. And if that is impossible, contact the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at 800-388-2227.  They will help you deal with your debt, work out a deal with your creditors if you simply cannot pay, and if necessary refer you to a bankruptcy attorney.  You can trust them completely.  Dialing that number will connect you to the nearest local office, or you can get help over the phone.
