MEDICARE Part D if I have NO prescriptions?

By Terry Savage on November 07, 2017 | Insurance & Annuities

I READ YOUR MESSAGE ABOUT PLAN D. I RECEIVED MY MEDICARE CARD IN MAIL AND IT STARTS DEC 1 2017. I CURRENTLY DO NOT TAKE ANY DRUGS, SO I DO NOT KNOW WHICH PLAN D I SHOULD GET, ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Terry Says

Even if you do not currently take any prescription medicines, you MUST sign up for a Part D plan if you are on Medicare.  (There is a penalty that will make future signups --when you do need prescriptions -- very expensive if you do not sign up now.)  Since you do not take any prescriptions now, simply sign up for the least expensive plan in your zipcode -- one that includes a pharmacy near you.
