Ask Terry Questions Medicare supplement

Medicare supplement

By Terry Savage on March 04, 2016 |

Dear Terry, there has been some articles, blogs, etc.,concerning choosing part “G” instead of the more popular part “F”. Cheaper premiums are said to offset the deductible costs of part “F”. Do you see any caveat to this?

Terry Says: Yes, there is a huge caveat:  With G you pay the deductibles on Part B yourself.   I guess it depends on what illnesses and how frequently you think you will use the plan.  But the whole idea of insurance is to cover the costs!  If you can afford F,  I would buy it.  Remember, you may not qualify if you buy G now and later want to switch to F.  Only within 6 months of starting Medicare are you able to buy any level supplement without medical evidence of insurability!
