Pay down CC debt when on disability

By Terry Savage on December 11, 2017 | Credit/Debt

My daughter has around $15,000 in credit card debt and making minimum payments. She worked as a NICU nurse but has had to go on disability due to horrible migraines. She has migraines 5-7 days a week and was not able to tend to the little premature babies. She also has mortgage payments and the usual utilities...plus a house full of pets. To start I want to work with the 2 CC companies to get the interest removed from her accounts. Is that possible? And if so, how do I go about it? Thanks,

That is truly a sad story.  I assume you're searching for a medical specialist to see if anything can be done.  Re her credit, start by contacting the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at 800-388-2227.  That will connect you to the nearest local office.  You can trust them, and they are free or very inexpensive.  They can help get  card companies lower the rates, but once they get that involved it dings your credit report.  Start simply by asking for some direction, which does not go on her credit report.   They will explain.
