Ask Terry Questions Roth vs Traditional Ira

Roth vs Traditional Ira

By Terry Savage on October 28, 2014 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I am 30 years old, which IRA wouldbe better for me, a traditional IRA or the Roth.

Thank you

Terry Says:  You can probably live without the tax deduction that a traditional IRA offers.  So I’d suggest the Roth — which will grow tax-free  (as opposed to tax-deferred in a traditional IRA).   Be sure to open your account at a low-cost firm with lots of investment choices, such as Fidelity, Vanguard or T. Rowe Price.
