Ask Terry Questions Scholarship Search website

Scholarship Search website

You mentioned a website to help with scholarship searching last week. What website was that?

Terry Says

There are two great websites to search for scholarships.  You'll have to give them basic information about yourself and your family to register.  The search is free, but they want to send you info about everything from checking accounts to dorm room furniture.  That's how they collect money from advertisers, to give you this free search -- and I think that's a fair trade! You'll also need to input a  lot of your family history, because many of the scholarships offered are given only to families who meet certain criteria.  Remember, these are private scholarships -- free money, so they get to set the terms! That said, you can go to either www.Scholarships.com, or http://www.fastweb.com/to do the search.   There is some overlap, but it is worth searching both sites if you're serious about getting this money.  And the best time to start is the summer before senior year of high school, as many of these have early deadlines in senior year to apply -- or some requirements which will take time to fulfill in order to qualify.
