Ask Terry Questions 401K review

401K review

By Terry Savage on February 05, 2016 | Investments

Hi Terry,

How often should I review my 401K account and make adjustments?

Thanks,
Julie

Terry Says:  That depends on your stage in life.  If you are under 40, then once a year is enough — because you need a long-term strategy and should stick to it.  Older than that, probably twice a year.  But even better is if you start out with that long-term appropriate plan.  Does your company offer “advice” from a company like Financial Engines or Morningstar?  If not, go to my website, scroll down on the far right column to the box marked FinancialEngines and get a free one-year trial by clicking on the link.
