Ask Terry Questions Career planning

Career planning

Any idea where to find free career counseling? My college doesn't offer any to alumni, unless you graduated in the last 6 months, and I was told by the Will County Workforce office that they don't do that. I don't know where else to look and I don't have any money, literally $0, to pay for it myself. I don't know if you can help but it never hurts to ask.

Sad to say, many people pay a lot for career counseling -- and don't have much to show for it.  But people who run these services are making a lot of money! Here's  a link to a great article on Monster.com  about free Internet-based services to help you assess your career direction.  I think this is a good place to start, and I'm sure you can find more resources online if you are willing to work at it.  At that point, you might want to sign up for a free introductory session with a career planner, to see if you are going down the right path.  Good for you for approaching this in a serious and methodical way.
