CD’s from internet banks
are 6 mo, 1yr CD's safe from online internet banks? They seem to have better rates.

They have better rates because they don't have "brick-and-mortar" costs. And if you are buying an FDIC insured CD, they are as safe as any other bank. But be sure about that. And also consider the time it might take to get your money TO the bank, and get it back to your own bank when you want the money back. If you miss a few days interest on each end, because of processing time, the total return might not be worth it -- unless you are talking about a LOT of money.
