Ask Terry Questions Fed rate increase

Fed rate increase

By Terry Savage on September 11, 2016 | Wild Card

So can you explain how .25 of a point raise will mean very little to someone's savings but the cost of everything else will rise drastically. A quarter of a point uh ? Are you spreading fear for the globalist bankers ? Please explain

Funny!  I thought I was explaining that all the hoopla surrounding the potential Fed rate increase would have very little impact for savers -- but would send a loud signal to other markets.  It's the direction, and the Fed's level of confidence that the economy is strong enough to raise rates, that will have the large impact.  And yes, the markets AND the media, will magnify this "news".    I always spread reality, never fear.  Fear destroys your ability to think clearly.  And this column is all about recognizing the various ways that a rate increase -- small as it is -- could impact your personal finances.
