What is your opinion of full service stock brokers like Edward Jones opposed to companies like Vanguard? Which is better?

Terry Says:  Well, long, long ago I started my career as a stockbroker — so I may be a bit biased!  I’ve always said that if you are getting good advice, it’s worth paying for.  But how will you know the advice is any good unless you try?!   I’m very comfortable using index funds at Vanguard to diversify investments.  And if you have more than $50,000 in an account with them or Fidelity, they will give you diversification advice that is appropriate to your situation.
