Ask Terry Questions Should I sell my stocks

Should I sell my stocks

By Terry Savage on March 12, 2020 | Investments

I am a 72 yr old widow. Income is SS and pt job ($6,000 yr). Last week my stocks totaled $117,000. Today they are at $93,000. I have no other savings. My husband use to handle all the stocks. Should I sell everything and keep it in a cash account so I can buy new stocks at a later date. Or should I close my eyes and hope things turn around?

Terry Says

Oh no. This is exactly what I did NOT want to hear — from anyone! I have been trying to warn people like you for months. I don’t know what stocks you own. I can’t give you specific advice, because I know that tomorrow — Thursday — the market is going to go down much further. And it could stay down for a while – -months. I do hope you have some other money on the side for emergencies. This could go farther and take longer than most people think.
