2018 taxes very different from 2019 | re: Stimulus check for the pandemic

By Terry Savage on April 26, 2020 | Wild Card

Hi Terry,

My 2018 taxes reflect that I would not be eligible for the stimulus payment as I was making six figures at the time. However, my 2019 income was drastically different. I made under the $75k mandate for the stimulus relief and by accordance to the package’s stipulations – I do qualify for the $1200. But – I did not file my 2019 taxes until the normal required deadline of April 15, 2020. The waive of checks that went out were based off of the timing of the response aid and prior to any system taking notation that my 2019 income qualifies me. What do you suggest I do to ensure that I do get the relief check? My 2019 taxes were filed by my account of April 14, 2020. Any tips or suggestions would be supremely appreciative.

Thank you!!
Erin

Now you wait. If they received your 2019 return, they will base the payment on that. If not, way down the road, you may get a chance to appeal. It would help if you included direct deposit info on your 2019 return. If you didn’t, do it here:
