Stimulus money for children of parents who got checks
Hi Terry! I’ve been seeing your name alot in my online group on Facebook people who are on social security and lower-income who used a non-filer portal by the deadline and still did not get their money for their dependents. I am a single widowed mother in my eleven-year-old daughter gets survivor benefits from her father I filled out everything on the non-filer portal on April 11th and I only received the $1,200 but not the 500 for her. I did everything I was supposed to do in the time frame that I had to do it and still nothing. I’ve emailed my congressman I have signed petitions I have done everything that I know to do do you have any advice on what else I can do to try and get this money the IRS is telling us that we will have to wait until next year when we file taxes but I don’t file taxes and if we did everything that we were supposed to do why are we being penalized? the IRS is not taking phone calls and I still haven’t received a letter about what I should do if I did not receive the right amount. everyone has been saying very good things about you and how helpful you are and I would greatly appreciate your help in this matter.
Thank you so very much!
Sincerely,
Cristy
Terry Says
Well, I’ve been swamped with people in your situation and have contacted the IRS and Treasury department several times. They say “they know” there are “issues.” They will NOT give me an answer as to why you parents received your benefits, but not your children who were registered at the right time and place!
I continue to pursue every avenue and believe me have not forgotten about this issue!
Please tell your Facebook group that if I have any info at all I will post a big update on my home page. I’m working on it!!
