Missing dependent payment

By Terry Savage on May 17, 2020 | Wild Card

I’m a widowed single mother of two, Jeremy is 11 and Scarlett is 6. We all receive survivors benefits from social security. A few days before the April 22nd deadline I filed both kids on the irs website non filer form. April 30 I received my $1200 stimulus but nothing for my 2 kids. To this day I have gotten nothing.
The irs admits this was a glitch and in fact all non filers are missing their kids portion. We cannot file at the end of the year with our taxes we are non filers, WE DONT FILE TAXES! The irs has given us no real answer or remedy to this situation. What can we do to receive this money? My family struggles as it is and $1000 is a lot of money to us. Thank u for ur advise

You are part of a very large “club” of low-income non-filers who dutifully registered their young children on the IRS website to receive a stimulus payment — received their own, but not one for their children!
I don’t know where you saw the IRS “admit’ this was a glitch! They haven’t acknowledged that to me — and I have asked daily, and even forwarded many posts on my blog to prove this is not just one or two people who didn’t get the money. Instead it’s obviously an entire category.
They have never answered my requests — but just say “they know about it.”
So, I have no idea what they’re going to do — but I suspect a “second pass” is coming and those checks will come separately. But that’s just a guess, based on logic — and nothing seems logical here!
