Problem with IDES

By Terry Savage on May 29, 2020 | Wild Card

OK, my husband was released from a business that closed. He also worked as a valet for a residential building. As he was layed off from them he applied for unemployment and was accepted. his job then called him back on a temporary basis because one of his supervisors had a death in the family so with this he exceeded the limit to collect unemployment. my questions are:
1 Does he need to apply again to collect?
2 His first check was to come in as a debit card yet we never received it. he has since changed it to direct deposit and we got the second payment.

Thank you in advance for any information that may help!

Terry Says

He needs to re-certify every two weeks. At that time, he will say how much he earned (gross) and the number of days he was unavailable to work and which days. Then he won’t get benefits for that period. But he can re-certify the next time and show that he didn’t earn anything — and hopefully get back on schedule for benefits. He doesn’t have to file a new claim.

Frankly, and this doesn’t help in hindsight, but after successfully navigating the unemployment website, he should have turned down the offer to go back to work for a few days!
