Job offer denied due to COVID 19

By Terry Savage on June 18, 2020 | Wild Card

My son quit his job (of six years) as he had accepted a new offer–the offer was withdrawn because of COVID-19. Is he eligible for unemployment insurance and, if so, what is the process? Does he first have to sign up for regular unemployment and file an appeal or does he file through pul?

Terry Says

Well, this is tricky. He doesn’t qualify for PUA because he wasn’t self-employed. If he “quit” his job, technically he doesn’t qualify for unemployment either. He can sign up, but if they contact his previous employer and they say he quit, he won’t get payment.
