Leaving a Financial Planner
What is the best way to leave a financial planner of several years?
Terry Says
The best way is to start your search before you leave. You can click on the blue box at the top right corner of my website to do the search for a FEE-ONLY, FIDUCIARY financial planner, using the Wealthramp service. I trust them completely to suggest only carefully vetted fiduciary planners — putting your interests first and fully disclosing their fees.
Then when you think you have a match after talking with one or two of them, they will assist you in transferring assets. At that point, you simply tell your current planner that you are “going in a different direction” and that Mr. X (your new advisor) will be calling to facilitate the the ransfer. Remember it’s YOUR money!
