Question about stimulus checks
Hello Terry
My name is Jessica. I was searching the internet about the IRS stimulus checks, and came across your website and thought that maybe you could help me with a couple of questions as I am having a difficult time getting through to a live IRS person. I received notification that I had gotten my checks both the first one and the second one. As I noticed this time the account they were both deposited into was a closed account. I thought that I did receive the first check but as I researched it more that was my husbands check we received and it looks like both checks under my name was sent to the closed checking account at my old bank. What shall I do to get both these checks returned I never received a check in the mail for the first check and live at the same address I filed taxes with. If you can maybe help me in what direction I need to go from here that would be wonderful as I am lost and unsure what to do at this point as I qualified for the child credits too as I have e4 children under 18.

Jessica, here is the solution to your problem. First, make sure your husband (or ex-husband) is NOT declaring you on his tax return! For 2020 you must file your OWN income tax return.
Read these instructions to claim your two stimulus payments ($1200 and $600, plus your dependents stimulus payments) onLine 30. It will be a refundable credit. Also make sure your husband does not claim the children as dependents on his return. If he collected your previous check, or is declaring the children when he is not providing more than half of their support, remind him it is a Federal crime to defraud a stimulus check!
