Hi Terry, we are 54 and have a mortgage on our home. Home is worth approx 700K and we have a 300K mortgage. We are trying to decide if we should sell or refi and put some money into home and pay off PLUS loan from my kids college. thanks for the advice

Rates were low last week, but have started rising again. Yet they will still be lower than the rates on Parent Plus loans. Read the article I just posted on refinancing mortgages. Just remember that interest on the portion of the money used to repay college loans is not deductible. And try not to sell your house; it may be your best “hedge” against inflation!
