Ask Terry Questions CD and T-Bills

CD and T-Bills

By Terry Savage on December 31, 2022 | Chicken Money

I am thinking of cashing out my $136,000 CD which is paying 1.69 % and matures in 8 months, and using the cash to purchase 26-week T-Bills which are presently paying about 4.7 %. The early withdrawal penalty is 6-months interest. I think this makes sense, but thought I’d fly it by you in case there’s something I’m not thinking about. Thanks for your great advice in the past!

Terry Says

I agree that it makes sense. But make sure you leave yourself with enough liquidity in the bank for emergencies. You can’t cash those t-bills early!
