Home Equity in retirement
Hi Terry,
My husband is retiring in the next 2-3 years, and we would like to start a business to have additional income coming in. We have quite a bit of equity in our home, and I would like to know if you would recommend us using the equity from our home to start a business. Thank you!

I absolutely do not recommend using home equity in retirement to start a business. Period! Let him get a part-time job, so he will have flexibility if he doesn’t like it — and no debt in retirement. This is not the time to speculate with your retirement security.
