How to buy treasury bonds

By Terry Savage on October 13, 2023 | Chicken Money

Realize, after years of trying & losing about $20,000, I don’t know anything about the stock market, and was with some guy’s who suggested buying bonds. Can you suggest an approach. I currently am retired, have the remnants of my old 4O1K @ Edward Jones, and need your help?
Thanks

“Some guys”?? No one recommends buying bonds unless they are making a nice commission selling them!

So I’m assuming your old 40l(k) is now an IRA. You can’t buy Treasuries directly inside an IRA, but if you are at a full-service brokerage firm like Edward Jones, you can insist on putting the IRA money mostly into a short-term U. S. Government securities money market mutual fund. (They won’t get a commission on that!)
You won’t get rich that way, but you won’t get poor!
