WEP
Is there any chance that WEP will go away. We each worked and paid into SOC SEC for many years.. Then we started teaching in a public school/s. At retirement , we started collecting our state teacher retirements. However, SOC SEC keeps over half of the social security that we should get. due to having a teacher retirement plan. The Soc Sec was earned before we taught.

If you worked in the private sector for 30 years, there is no WEP. And there is a huge movement to try to get this “windfall elimination provision” removed. Use this link to read about House Bill 82, which might possibly get through Congress.
