Ask Terry Questions High yield savings accounts

High yield savings accounts

By Terry Savage on January 31, 2024 | Chicken Money

I have 10 to 15k I would like to put in a high yield savings account. FDIC insured, 24/7 access. Who or what would you recommend.

Terry Says

You can do that at any bank using a money market account. To find those with the highest yields, go here: https://www.bankrate.com/banking/savings/national-average-money-market-account-rates/

But as you see, money market rates tend to be far lower than 6-month CDs or T-bills. That happens because you have instant access to your money with a money market deposit account.

If you’re willing to tie up your month for 3 or 6 months, consider T-bills.
