Social security on line account/mandatory or lose bennefits
I am 79, started SS in 2007 with an in office visit in Elgin, IL. At that time, annual paper statements were mailed to upcoming beneficiaries. If I don’t open one, will my benefits stop? Thanks. I listen to you every Wednesday, noon, WGN radio.

NO, you do NOT have to have an online SS account! And if you’re getting your benefits regularly, don’t worry about it — and don’t try to contact them.
For sure, you will get your 1099 by mail each year — showing how much you were paid.
And since you’re already retired, your monthly benefit won’t change — except for the annual inflation adjustment. so you don’t need to “see” your account.
So relax, and your money will drop into your bank account on time every month.
