Ask Terry Questions Setting up a Treasury Direct account

Setting up a Treasury Direct account

By Terry Savage on August 08, 2025 | Chicken Money

Hi Terry. I have a quick question. My husband and I have a Living Trust.
When completing the Treasury Direct application, we put the trust name in for the Entity Name and the Personalized account name. Is that the correct way to do this?
Also , can the account manager be my husband or does it have to be the Trust name again?
Thank You Terry.

OK, I had to go back to my own account to figure out how to answer correctly.

The Entity Name should read: “John Smith, trustee for the Smith Family Revocable Living Trust, dtd 08/01/25

The Personalized Account name can be anything you want to use. It could be “Smith T-bills” —
Link the TD account to a bank money market account titled exactly the same — and use the SS number that matches on both accounts (yours or your spouse’s).
