SOCIAL SECURITY

By Terry Savage on August 23, 2025 | Social Security

I worked at a OAK FOREST HOSPITAL from 1973 -1979
Social security was not taken out and that affected my social security when I retired
I heard that they should haven taken out for my future benefits is this true some people have gotten back pay???

Terry Says

No, that’s not the case. Those who received pensions from public service employment, and who had their SS reduced because of those pensions, have received a bump up in their payments and a check retroactive for one year. That would not apply in your case.

I suggest you go t0 ssa.gov and create your own “my social security” account to check the accuracy of your earnings history in more recent years. Since your monthly payment is based on your highest 35 years of indexed earnings, I’m quite sure these old omissions wouldn’t make a difference in your monthly check.
