Trust Checklist to give your executor?

By Terry Savage on November 25, 2025 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Do you have a “Trust Checklist” that I can give our executor so they know what they need to do (like a road map of sort) and what agencies to contact? We want to avoid them having to hire an attorney as that is one of the reasons we have a Trust.

Terry Says

That sounds penny-wise and pound foolish! If you have a revocable living trust, you surely have named a successor trustee in case both of you pass away at the same time in an accident. He will contact the attorney who created the trust, and the funeral director, for instructions on handling the estate.

As long as your successor can find all the important documents, things should go smoothly. MAke it easier by filling out this Organizer Icreated: https://www.terrysavage.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Personal-Financial-Inventory.pdf

And you might leave a copy of this book with your checklist and estate planning documents!
