gold ira advice

By Terry Savage on May 18, 2026 | Investments

I am still working at almost 69, have a diverse but stock heavy portfolio, and a net worth in the several millions. interested in a gold ira, good or bad idea, can I do it as a roth?

Terry Says

You can buy gold mining stocks or mutual funds in any self-directed IRA. I think that’s a much better approach than buying gold coins or bullion in an IRA, with all its custodial fees and costs.
And, maybe it’s time to look at your investment diversification of your portfolio –whether pre-tax or after-tax. A “stock heavy portfolio” could lead to stock heavy losses if the market falls! And you’re pretty close to retirement to take that kind of risk.
