rollover of IRA to S&P for senior citizen?

By Terry Savage on June 05, 2026 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Terry:
have heard you on your segments with WGN radio. I am a senior citizen age 73. I have an
IRA with Janus from which I am taking monthly required minimum withdrawals. I am considering
doing a rollover to the S & P 500 index fund as from my research this fund seems not to risky to invest in and has performed fairly well over the years. Just wanted to know your thoughts on
this and whether the rollover is posssible to do without involving a broker and also if I can continue to do my monthly withdrawals after the rollover.

Terry Says

You have no idea how risky the stock market is! And it is no place for a novice senior citizen! How would you feel if you lost 20 or 20% of your money in one month??
