Age appropriate book for 13 year old boy

By Terry Savage on June 22, 2026 | Investments

Are your books a starting point for a young man (13) to learn about the financial market? If so, what do you suggest we purchase for him. We purchased $5,000 in 4 stocks and feel he needs to read about what is involved in the market place. My wife and I can talk to him but a hard copy would help us drive this learning process home. I love your segment on channel 9.

Gosh, I’d like to think that the first section — about 90 pages — of The Savage Truth on Money would be the perfect introduction to how to think about money, how to make it work for you, how to look at the markets and the economy, and how to deal with spending vs investing.

Tell you what, order it on Amazon, and I’ll give you a personal money-back guarantee if it doesn’t do all of the above! Having said that there are a lot of good books out there for teens. But even better, look into the Fidelity Youth Account to not only hold those shares you bought, but give immediate online investing lessons designed for teens. In this day of online intensity, this might be a better place to start than a book!
