Read your column today. Why weren’t current benefit payments cut (maybe 10%) several years ago with continuing cuts each year until there is ‘solvency’, along with other changes such as discussed in your column?
I receive SS at a reduced rate because I did not want to die of cancer sitting at my work desk. I don’t want a cut, but it would resemble some sort of fairness to those who are working and near an age to sign up.

No one “wants a cut” — and no one wants “higher taxes” — It all depends on where you stand!
And Congress wants to get re-elected. So now they will be forced to make a decision. We need Solomon!
