Wife and early social security.

By Terry Savage on July 17, 2026 | Social Security

Hi Terry
Trying to convince my wife into collecting ss at 63 and keep working. The bottom line is she could work until she is 70 and still collect less than what she would once I am gone. This would also allow her to possibly work part time and enjoy more time off if she wanted. Am I wrong?

Terry Says

No, no, no! She should not collect early, because it will permanently reduce her benefits. And if she continues working her benefit will be penalized and reduced!

Please go to MaximizeMySocialSecurity.com to figure out the best strategy for her, and your, SS benefits. It’s worth the $49 to save you from a huge mistake that will last the rest of your lives! You can be sure that by inputting both of your info you will get the correct advice!
