TRS Accelerated buyout
I am 51 years old and left teaching after 28 years to care for my parents. I am having a grandchild soon from my 19 year old daughter and plan to help her and not return to teaching. TRS has given me 2 different numbers for what I would be collecting at age 55. My husband will get VA benefits, social security, and retirement and we have roughly 150,000 in savings. I would like to pay off our house and have a different investment, but is it worth giving up my lifelong pension. The 1st call they told me that I would get 2,800 dollars a month at TRS, and this letter says 4,500 if my retirement date is 4/3/30, which it won’t be, because I am already not teaching… this is very confusing…
