2020 Amended Tax Return Status
I mailed my 2020 1040-X (Amended Tax Form) in March of 2021. I check the website every couple of weeks and keep getting this message: “Your amended return information is currently unavailable in this application”. It then says it may take up to 16 weeks to process. It’s been 10 months since I mailed it. Should I re-mail or are others having the same extended delay? Is there an IRS number that you have for me to speak with a live agent? Thanks.

There is no way to talk to anyone at the IRS. I am having a spokesperson on WGN radio at noon on Wednesday –and will press him for answers. But he says amended returns are last in line, so it could take over a year because they require individual processing!!
