2020 tax refunds
I filed amended returns to both the state of Illinois and the Fed last May and I have yet to receive my refunds. Should I file 2021 taxes or an extension? I owe nothing. I don’t want to confuse the issue. I have been unable to reach either to inquire as to the status.

Are you required to file based on income in 2021? If not, don’t. Unless you have a credit to claim — child care, child tax, missing stimulus, etc.
