2021 Federal Tax Refund Terry Says: Blame your Neanderthal accountant!

By Terry Savage on June 27, 2022 | Taxes & Economy

Hi Terry!
Just giving you an update on a question we asked last week. We advised we filed our 2021 tax returns timely in mid-February & have the postal receipt since our tax preparer does not like e-filing. We have extra funds withdrawn from our SS and my husband’s pension so we get a nice “chunk” back to pay bills etc. We have not gotten our refund as of yet and couldn’t get any answers. We did finally navigate through the process and made an ID.ME account, per your advice. After approval, we were notified our return HAS NOT BEEN PROCESSED! Even during the height of covid, we received our last two refunds within six weeks. Our state refund was received less than six weeks. Of course, if you owe money, there is a box to click on to arrange for payment which somehow, they are able to process. Unbelievable! Four months have now gone by and still nothing. We appreciate your advice and hopefully through your intervention, many more complaints can “speed” them up! Bills have to be paid and groceries and gas are not coming down. Thanks again!

I’m sorry to say this, but next year you need a different tax preparer. He is the one you should blame. The IRS practically begged people to file electronically and include direct deposit info for a refund. Your preparer is not only a Neanderthal, but is — in my mind — negligent for saying he “does not like e-filing.”
