Ask Terry Questions 3rd stimulus check

3rd stimulus check

By Terry Savage on April 02, 2021 |

Hi there
My husband and I received the first two stimulus checks. We are both 67. We followed the advice of our CPA and took our social security in 2020. By doing that we were over the $150,000 income for the third stimulus check. Is there anything we can do about this?

Terry Says

Sorry, no. If you were over the joint income limit not much you can do now — except each contribute to a deductible IRS (up until May 15th) if it lowers your income enough to be under the $150,000. In that case, file your 2020 return with that deduction. I’m assuming you each had $7,000 of income from work in 2020. That’s how muchyou each can contribute at your age.
