I have $65k in my 401 with 95% in stocks divided between large and small cap funds
I’m retired and approaching age 70
do you recommend a different type of fund maybe a little safer

Yes, I do! Especially if this is your ONLY savings. IN fact, I would put half in a short — very short-term bond fund (with maturity of less than two years. And half in an equity/income fund.
And if those aren’t offered inside your 40l(k) plan, then maybe you should read this article and do a direct rollover to Fidelity or Vanguard where you will have a wider choice of conservative funds, including perhaps a money market fund for a portion of your savings.
