Hi Terry.
Unfortunately, we need to take a distribution of $20000. Before I request the distribution, is there a way I can still make it part of our 2023 income.
I turn 72 this year and will be required to take a distribution later in the year.

No, sorry. It will come out as ordinary income in 2024. And just FYI, you would not have to take a distribution until the year you turn 73 — next year.
