Ask Terry Questions 401 K choices

401 K choices

By Terry Savage on May 15, 2023 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I retired in 2014. My 401K has 57.8% in Target Retirement 2020 Fund and 47.2% in Blackrock U.S. Equity Index. My question is, should I move it all to the Target Retirement Fund? My 401K is more of a savings plan for my husband and I as we make enough monthly to make ends meet. He’s on SS and I have a pension. We own our house and have $80,000 in our checking.

I would think this is the time to do a rollover (read this on how to do it) and then make some much more conservative choices, with a larger amount in a Money Market fund so you won’t be forced to sell at a bad time to take required minimum distributions.
