401k; retiring in 2 years

By Terry Savage on July 14, 2019 | Investments

I’m retiring in 2 years. I have $315,000 in my 401k with Fidelity. How do I protect my money in case of a market crash?

Please read my latest column on Managing Risk.   Surely your 40l(k) has a safer option than the all-stock funds.  Is there a stable value fund or a money market alternative? Or a very short-term bond fund?  I’m not suggesting that you move ALL your money out of stocks — just enough so that you can sleep well, and be able to pull out your RMDs for a few years without having to sell your mutual funds at a a loss if a bear market does arrive.
