5 things to know about refinancing student loans

By Terry Savage on September 27, 2015 |

My granddaughter has recently been hired by Pawtucket school system as a physical & health education teacher. Because she just started a full-time position, is she able to refinance her college loans with SoFi, etc. She has been working steadily as a part-time worker for a market as a clerk, and a fitness center as a trainer.

Terry Says:  It’s certainly worth trying.  But first, check to see if she qualifies for a special program under the Federal student loan program, which forgives the balance of your loan after 10 years of on-time payments, IF you are working in a public service sector.  I think her teaching job, if she stays at it, would qualify her for this PSLFP  — Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.  Here’s a link to a great article about it.
