Any Opinion on QLAC’s (Qualified Longivity Annuity Contracts)

By Terry Savage on August 17, 2014 | Financial Planning / Retirement

The US government is concerned about retirees outliving their retirement funds. The IRS recently (7-01-14) issued a ruling on QLAC’s (see topic). As yet Insurance companies were reluctant to issue this type of product but since the ruling hopefully that will change. There are limits, rules and restrictions on QLAC’s but with the government is in the driver’s seat (enough said). Since this ruling will provide some RMD extension/revision, do you feel it is something to consider for retirees who are in a position to take advantage of this new finance vehicle? Thanks for your time. Attended your superb presentation at GSU presented by AARP & WLS 89.
