Appeal Cook county reassessment?

Hi Terry! I live in Arlington Heights and my assessed value of my home went up from $274,000 to $380,000! I’ve been here for 20 years and have never seen such an increase. My sister’s home, which is larger than mine and also in Arlington Heights, actually decreased in value so I am very perplexed. When I looked into the appeal for this assessment online, it said that it will have no bearing on my property taxes, but I find that very hard to believe. Should I appeal this assessment in the hopes of my property taxes not increasing by a lot?
